Acer Aspire Timeline 1820PT to be €599; gets video reviews
It feels like we've been waiting a long time for any news of Acer's multitouch-capable Aspire Timeline 1820PT, their latest convertible tablet, but going by recent rumors we shouldn't have to wait long for a launch. Engadget have heard the Core 2 Duo touchscreen notebook will cost €599 (they're extrapolating a US price of $599) while GottaBeMobile forum member Elmstrom spotted it's already up for preorder in the UK for £539.99 ($815).Video demo after the cut
However, while the rest of us sit on our hands and wait eagerly for shipments to start, VR-Zone forum member Denosha has already got his 1820PTZ and has put up a hands-on review and the videos you see below. He's reasonably impressed with build quality – the hinge is an obvious point of concern – but the screen has poor viewing angles though, after calibration, decent contrast.
The touchscreen, meanwhile, supports optional palm-rejection (meaning you can rest your hand on the display while writing, without it being recognized as another point of contact) that works well; there's a demo of inking ability below. General performance is described as "snappy enough for general use" which is good, as Acer have slapped a "Warranty void if broken" sticker across the access panel underneath.
