AAA, the company known for being a major help to motorists around the country, has just released a cell phone based application that does GPS navigation, and can announce your current location to a nearby call center should you need roadside assistance.
On top of that it also incorporates Diamond ratings for nearby hotels and other points of interest and lets customers know where they can go nearby to get discounts with your card. This all sounds a lot like a certain Helio application, say, Garmin Mobile, that was released yesterday, coincidence? I think not.This wonderful feature will cost you $9.99 per month and only works with certain phones on the Sprint network (sounding more and more like the Helio feature). I honestly like the added-value features like AAA-ratings and sending your location to an AAA roadside assistance rep. But the turn-by-turn category is growing increasingly crowded. I’ve posted some additional commentary here:
