What is the experience like reading a e-book you’ve loaded manually (that is, form a source other than B&N)? Do they have to be opened from the ‘My Files” area, or do they show up in the book library? Do they show up in the most recently read items in the bar at the bottom of the home screen? Thanks!

I’d say it’s somewhere in between the two. B&N made efforts to reduce the glare somewhat, applying some sort of lamination to the screen I’m told (by them) to get the glare down as much as possible. You’ll probably still want to be sitting in the shade on a nice sunny day.

How does the Nook Color do outside? The big deal with e-ink is there is no glare, which is the opposite from the IPad’s LCD.

If you’re really into the idea of getting a NOOKcolor, it might be worth emailing the magazines you read asking them if they plan on putting their product up on NOOKcolor in the future – I’m informed that it’s sort of a self-publishing situation – not sure on how easy it is or the profit share, but still maybe worth an email.

While you’re at it, feel free to email the following magazines for me: Thrasher, Juxtapoz, and Swindle.

Looking to purchase within a month.
I like the idea of just an e-reader. Apps are great. Though like the idea of the iPad having a (all be it slightly) bigger screen.
Update – Zinio not compatible on Nook. Bummed as none of my car magazines listed on the Nook Store.

BTW you can change text size and color, by tapping on the screen when you are in the article mode.

How does the screen on the NookColor compare to an iPad?
I’d like to see a comparison between the two – for example what is the reading experience of a magazine on each device?
