Today there was an article in one of my local papers about alcohol. Its opening sentence stated that while some people just drink for the fun of it there are people out there who consider themselves alcohol connoisseurs. Even though I chuckled at the time, I now understand what they meant.

Christmas Cocktail

Only a fool or an alcohol connoisseur would pay $71,011 for a cocktail. I guess I’m neither. For me to pay that much it had better be liquid from the holy grail, cure cancer or make me invincible/immortal. This Christmas Cocktail, which is being sold at the Movida nightclub in London, consists of Louis XII cognac, half a bottle of Cristal Rose champagne, brown sugar, angostura bitters and flakes of edible 24-carat gold leaf. Its hefty price comes with the 11-carat white diamond ring that rests in the bottom of your crystal glass. The good news is that you don’t have to drink your expensive drink alone. It does come with two bodyguards to watch over you until you’re finished. So bring cash and leave your date at home.

I could see paying that amount for a bottom of this Christmas Cocktail, maybe, just maybe. But since it’s only one drink I really think the name should be changed. After all, it’s not really the drink your buying, it’s the ring and what kind of girl wants a ring that comes in the bottom of drink?

greg you are missing the 11 carat diamond ring. it’s just about right on price, i quoted a 2ct ring on zales.com for over 24g’s so, i guys i would say. I will just take the expensive booze.
