JVC have outed their latest range of D-ILA home theater projectors, with a full six models on offer spanning prices from $5,000 to $10,000.  Three – the DLA-RS35, DLA-RS25 and DLA-RS15 – will be pushed via JVC’s professional products arm, while the remainder – the DLA-HD990, DLA-HD950 and DLA-HD550 – will go on sale via the consumer group.  Most impressive about all the models, though, are their contrast ratios: even the entry HD550 manages 30,000:1, while the top-spec RS35 and HD990 manage 70,000:1.

Sanyo

Monday’s here and we’ve got another week ahead of us. And today’s already been pretty busy, considering Apple’s gone and outed the official release date of their upcoming OS, and even Nokia got some netbook action unveiled. And while I’m sure someone at Sanyo cares about all of that, we’re sure they’re thinking you should be more excited about a small camcorder that’s capable of recording at 720p. And, if that’s not all, there’s something else that might entice you to grab this little camera.

It’s probably fair to say that we haven’t been particularly impressed with what we’ve heard about Acer’s Aspire One 751. The phrase “pretty but dumb” has been muttered more than once, an aesthetically pleasing machine but one lacking in processing power. So when Acer offered us the latest version, the AO751h-1522, we jumped at the opportunity to see how it holds up to our own exacting standards. Check out the full review after the cut

We kicked off the week with our review of the Sony VAIO P, the company’s “don’t call it a netbook” companion ultraportable.  It’s interesting to contrast it with Acer’s just-confirmed 10-inch Aspire One, which will likely offer greater performance at less than half the price.  Elsewhere, Sanyo took the wraps off of their 2009 Xacti camcorder range, including a very tempting 1080p 60fps model, and HTC announced the Touch Cruise smartphone with an integrated GPS-tagged memory app.  In other smartphone news, everyone got surprisingly agitated about President Obama’s super-secret messaging phone.
