Yesterday marked the official launch of Wii Fit Plus. The original Wii Fit sat at the top of many game charts for a long time and the systems were very hard to find in stores. Wii Fit Plus is likely to be one of the most popular Wii titles for the holiday season.

I bought a Wii Fit to mess around with when they first came out and realized quickly that you can actually get a work out using a game console. There were stories floating around that one guy had managed to spot the Wii Fit Girl in a store then also got an autograph. Well he posted it on eBay to try to get some extra dough out of it.

The Wii Fit has been out for a little over a week now and already people are finding alternative uses for it. Wii Fanboy has been throwing random objects onto the Balance Board to see how different things are measuring up and Joystick Division have come up with various alternative uses for after you get bored of the game.

Nintendo’s Wii Fit has finally launched in the US today, and we practically snatched it from the hands of the mailman (he’s pretty used to it) to shoot a video unboxing for you.  We’ll be attempting to recover our sense of balance and put the innovative controller through its paces for a review later, but hands-on first impressions are good.  Rated for up to 300lbs, the Wii Fit may be plastic but it feels sturdy and reassuring and the four non-slip feet are promising for use on wooden floors.

Attention potential Wii Fit owners: if you’re over 300lbs, you need to find a new exercise game. Nintendo has just announced that the little white thing you stand on has a maximum weight limit, and 300lbs is the cut-off.

Wii Fit limits

I suppose that every device who’s sole purpose is to be stood on has to have a weight limit, it just seems ironic when the device is being marketed as a fitness device.

If you liked that little white thing you stand on, you’ll have to wait until 2008 before you get your hands feet on one. Unless you live in Japan, that is.

I still think that the Wii Fit is a really cool device, even though I myself would likely never purchase or actually use one. Generally, when I’m going to spend some time playing games, I’m more looking for something with adventure and excitement, not exercise. As you might have guessed, I don’t usually allot a certain part of my day strictly for exercise.

Here’s a slightly different, and hilarious look at the Wii Fit from the same guys that brought you the big ass table video. It’s the little white thing you stand on.
