Color us confused again.  While Orange claimed that in offering the iPhone 3GS in the UK in opposition to hitherto-exclusive rival O2 they'd "increase value" to buyers, some bizarre limitations in the terms & conditions have us wondering whether life really was better with O2.  As we pointed out earlier this week, Orange define "unlimited data" as 750MB; however there's also a potentially more limiting cap on what streaming and IM services - such as internet radio and Facebook messaging - can be used.

Sprint have announced their first EVDO-enabled netbook, though they don’t quite seem to have figured out the magic tipping point that really pulls in the customers.  The carrier is offering a Dell Inspiron Mini 10 with integrated EVDO Rev.A, but rather than do the sensible thing and hack great chunks off the up-front price (while knowing you’ll make it back with the mandatory two-year agreement) their netbook is in fact $199.99, and that’s after the rebate.

Lenovo is known for making some robust notebooks that perform well but have zero sex appeal. The machines have looked basically the same since IBM owned the ThinkPad brand. Today Lenovo announced that it has added Windows 7 to a couple new machines called the SL410 and the SL510. The notebooks hit overseas already, but today is the official U.S. coming out.

Bang & Olufsen have been through a phase of unusually shaped landline phones – the banana-esque BeoCom 2 is a good example – but they’re returning to their slightly more sensible roots with the new BeoCom 5.  The dual-line DECT phone works both as a twin landline handset and as a VoIP device, and magnetically docks either onto its charging plinth or onto a portable speakerphone (that also charges the handset).

We’re inherently sceptical of anything blurry that’s claiming to be a prototype, so throw some salt over your shoulder and take a look at what’s tipped as Nokia’s next-gen N9xx-series Internet Tablet device.  According to imobile365 the Nokia N920 will be a touchscreen-only device, using a 4.13-inch capacitive touchscreen rather than the N900’s 3.5-inch resistive panel and supporting multitouch gestures on Maemo 6.

After spending most of Friday curled in a ball twitching and drooling after losing power and Internet access for almost 12 hours, I am glad to be back online and in the 21st century again. Just in time to hunker down and dose myself with a nice helping of week in review for your perusal. Chris reviewed the GSM Palm Pre and found the camera wasn't as good as some of its peers but found plenty to like in the end. The webOS operating system stands apart from rival OS'. Buffalo announced the HD-HU3 USB 3.0 drive and controller that will be shipping in Japan this month. The drive isn’t even that expensive; I hope it comes to America too.
