Samsung’s N120 seemed like a netbook desperately searching for a niche back when the company announced it in March, promising a 10-inch display like its N110 sibling but the kind of larger keyboard you’d expect to find on a 12.1-inch machine. Bizarrely, though, it’s not the keyboard that reviewers Liliputing found impressive about the N120, but the speakers; in actual fact, the ‘board is something of a disappointment.
All eyes may be on Samsung’s latest 10-inch netbooks right now – the N110, N120 and N310 – but we shouldn’t forget the company’s VIA Nano marvel. The Samsung NC20 is a slightly larger machine, at 12.1-inches WXGA, and uses the VIA Nano U2250 1.3GHz processor; it’s now on sale at Newegg, priced at $549.99.
The Samsung N120 has gone up for pre-order on various sites, offering the netbook from between $443 and $475. Boasting the same 10.1-inch display as the Samsung N110, the N120 pairs it with the keyboard from a larger, 12.1-inch notebook and a battery promising up to 10.5hrs runtime.
From one compact Samsung to another, this time the company’s S8300 UltraTOUCH AMOLED touchscreen feature-phone. Not officially available in the US at present, an Amazon seller is nonetheless offering the S8300 unlocked with quadband GSM (850/900/1800/1900).
Samsung’s N110 netbook got its official announcement and first review all in the same day, but we’ve had to wait a little longer to see the 10.1-inch ultraportable go up for pre-order. Now Samsung’s own shop-online page has purchase details, and the N110 has also shown up at Buy.com.
As well as the N110 and N310, Samsung have a third new netbook, the Samsung N120. Equipped with the same 10.1-inch display as the N110, the Samsung N120’s party trick is a full-sized 12.1-inch notebook keyboard; the Intel Atom-based netbook also promises up to 10.5hrs runtime from the 6-cell battery pack.
We should perhaps have known something was up when the Samsung N310 launched with neither leaks nor inklings earlier today, but the company has surprised us a second time with another new netbook. The Samsung N110 replaces the NC10 and has already been across Laptop Mag’s test bench; its predecessor was well-esteemed, so there’s a lot for the new 10.2-inch netbook to live up to.
