The Samsung i5700 Spica (aka Galaxy Lite) may still be some way off – early 2010, in fact, if the rumors are to be believed – but that hasn’t stopped some pre-production units arriving into hands early.  ai.rs have managed to acquire a device and, after masking what we’re assuming is a carrier logo, have made a video preview.

It feels like its been a long time since we last saw the Samsung i5700 Android phone, the so-called Galaxy Lite the company are positioning as an entry level counterpart to the i7500, and in fact the last we did see was a non-functional store model.  So we’re glad that the 3-inch AMOLED touchscreen handset has shown up again, this time fully functional and in the hands of Cellularmania.

Good news and bad, today, for those hoping for Samsung’s i5700 aka the Galaxy Lite.  According to dial-a-phone, the i7500’s little sibling has been pushed back into 2010, rather than launching later on in 2009 as originally planned, so as to give its bigger sibling more chance to rack up sales.

Well they say time files when you are having fun, but they never mention how fast time flies when you are typing your fingers to bleeding nubs to bring your wonderful readers all the gadget news fit to print and then some. Here we are again with another week in review for your reading pleasure. Spotify hit iPhone and Android devices this week. So many people grabbed the app that the free service quickly went back to invite only status. Sony unveiled a super-thin new wireless HDTV this week that makes Paris Hilton look fat by comparison. I am almost afraid to find out what the thin and feature packed set will cost.

We get it that Android is a hot commodity at this point, and we're all for seeing the expanding OS hitting more phones in the States, but there's a point where jumping the gun might not be that beneficial. Android is a platform that needs to hit popular, or even eye-catching phones at this point, and shy away from ambiguous, run-of-the-mill devices. And, unless you fell head over heels for the original Behold when it launched on T-Mobile, then we're tagging "run-of-the-mill" on its sequel. But then again, does running Android on a device make it stand out, just by default?

Android phones are coming out all over the place, ranging from the basic Android device, all the way up to HTC’s Sense UI, which made us all take a second look at what Android was capable of. And we’re happy to see the open source Operating System (OS) getting some of the lime-light, especially so quickly. And while HTC has beem the main proponent to Android’s availability on the market, other manufacturers are quickly clamoring to get their piece of the pie. Motorola has two handsets reportedly coming out, the Verizon-bound Sholes (or Shules, whichever you think doesn’t sound ridiculous when you say it aloud), and the T-Mobile Morrison, which is a lower-end device. And Samsung had already inroduced the i7500 (or Galaxy), but it looks like they’re not finished yet. Here, we finally introduce the Samsung Instinct Q.

The Samsung Galaxy (i7500), the only Android device with an AMOLED display, has been out on Germany's network for some time, and it's been the general envy of most Android users out there since its release. While other Android phones like the Magic and Hero are great in their own right, Samsung left it upon itself to create an Android phone that set up to blow the competition (HTC) out of the water. And it looks like that customer base is about to get a lot bigger.
