Today's PSP Go rumor strikes us a little bizarre, but we'll admit that stranger things have happened.  According to a lone source speaking to gaming site CVG, Logitech are apparently developing a UMD drive add-on which could be fitted to the PSP Go, enabling UMD media playback though "it'll make the PSP a little bulky".

We’ve marvelled at the prodigious size of the Nintendo DSi LL, freshly released in Japan this past weekend, but PC Watch took things one step further and broke open their gaming handheld.  Their teardown does sadly confirm that Nintendo didn’t take advantage of the extra room to squeeze in anything especially exciting.

Nintendo's DSi LL hit Japanese shelves this weekend, and we hope those who braved the stores to pick up the new, oversized handheld had been doing their arm exercises; as Game Watch's comparison photos show, the "LL" moniker isn't just there for show.  Shown here next to a Sony PSP-3000, the DSi LL looks, frankly, huge.

I am not too sure about the PSP Go that will shed the UMD game capability. My broadband connection is not that great and it takes too long to download full video games for that to be viable in my house. I have to wait a good 30 minutes to download demos on the PS3 typically.

With the veracity of his information seemingly corroborated by accurately tipping the Sony PS3 Slim back in June now that the skinny console has been made official, tipster Super_Secret’s next prediction – regarding Sony’s portable gaming line – is now under the microscope.  In June the anonymous source suggested that rather than phasing out UMD-based PSP models, Sony were instead preparing to replace the current PSP-3000 with a new PSP-4000.

Sony have officially announced the PSP Go!, and as expected it’s the smaller, entirely-digital sibling to the PSP-3000.  Rocking a sliding form-factor with a 3.8-inch LCD display, 16GB of onboard memory, WiFi and Bluetooth and a M2 Memory Stick Micro slot, the PSP Go! drops the UMD slot from previous versions and as such is 50-percent smaller than the original PSP and 40-percent lighter.
