New PS4 model in Japan is less power hungry, less noisy

New PS4 model in Japan is less power hungry, less noisy

Sony may have just announced the 1 TB version of the PlayStation 4, which differs only in the storage capacity, but over in Japan, it has launched a variant that has more substantial changes than that. While it's still not the fabled PS4 Slim, the PS4 CUH-1200 does slim down on a few things while still retaining the original external proportions. It has toned down the number of RAM modules used, which in turn reduces power used, which, in turn, also affects the noise that the cooling fan makes.

Sony hints PS4’s backwards compatibility is unlikely in future

Sony hints PS4’s backwards compatibility is unlikely in future

The Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 as well, both launched in 2013 without backwards compatibility with previous generation games, severing the ties, if you will, with a feature that both the Xbox 360 and PS3 offered. That's why it came as such a surprise to gamers when Microsoft announced at E3 this week that the Xbox One was gaining backwards compatibility with select 360 titles. The news was so unexpected, that even Sony’s Worldwide Studios head Shuhei Yoshida admitted to Eurogamer that he was shocked as well.

1TB Xbox One Halo MCC bundle spotted briefly on Amazon

Monkey see, monkey do, or something like that. It was just last week when keen eyes have spotted a PlayStation 4 at the FCC bearing a rather generous 1 TB of storage. Now, it's the Xbox One's turn to get such a leak. A product page on Amazon appeared, and quickly disappeared, showing a special Xbox One Halo: Master Chief Collection bundle that, yes, also included 1 TB of storage and the much leaked new wireless controller. And although the item has disappeared off the Internet, chances are we will get to see it again next week.

PlayStation Vue: here’s what you need to know

Sony's newest TV-based venture is PlayStation Vue, a system that works specifically on their PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 gaming devices. Now that we're well and away from the launch of the PS4, a device that Sony assured the public was a "gamer-centric" system back in 2013, it's time to get serious about bringing on television services. For the time being, PlayStation Vue - a TV channel service - will be available to Chicago, New York City, and Philadelphia only, though more cities are on the way in the near future.
