Having teased us with the promise of availability of their SHOWWX laser pico-projector back in October, Microvision have now revealed that Vodafone Spain will be the carrier offering the portable projector. The SHOWWX is on sale now for €289 ($436) excluding tax, or for a reduced amount if you have points under the carrier’s loyalty program, and it will be marketed alongside the Nokia N97 mini.

BeamBox’s MiLi Evolution iPhone Projector looks like the sort of thing some industrial designer would use to try to make his name, but the combination iPhone/iPod touch case, projector and charging cradle is actually expected to go up for preorder at the end of November.

Monday we learned that a new hack was available from the iPhone Dev Team that adds MMS to first generation iPhones and tethering to 3.1.2 OS for the later iPhone models. We also found out that Microsoft is set to issue a new update for the Xbox 360 that will break unauthorized storage devices. That means that some gamers will be unable to access the saved game data after applying the new update.

Monday more rumors surfaced that has Apple launching that long anticipated tablet device this November. The rumors further claim that the tablet will be aimed at gaming and media use. Early this week Verizon cut the pricing on all its smartphones save a few of the new ones to $99. That makes us think lots of new smartphone hardware is on its way.

They found the S1000pj to be surprisingly good fun, with the VGA quality from the pico-projector making up in communal usability what it lacks in visual fidelity.

AAXA P2 pico-projector: VGA input but just 35 mins battery

The resolution gets a boost to 800 x 600 while brightness also climbs to 33 lumens; even better, there’s a standard VGA input along with the usual onboard media player, 1GB of integrated storage and microSD card slot. Unfortunately, the thorn in the P2’s side is its battery life.

Poor old Toshiba took the old adage “if you can’t beat them, join them” seriously on Monday and announced that it would be launching its own Blu-ray player by the end of 2009. That had to be hard to swallow for the execs who bet it all on HD DVD only to be defeated by Blu-ray. Also on Monday the slick HP Mini 5101 netbooks tipped up starting from $399. I’m not convinced we need another netbook on the market right now personally.
BeamBox Essential G2 pico-projector aimed at netbooks/notebooks

The BeamBox Essential G2, then, drops both bulk and weight to come in at 75g, together with 20 lumens brightness and VGA 640 x 480 resolution.
Samsung MBP200 pico-projector/PMP hybrid hits Europe

First announced back at CES, the MBP200 goes a step or two ahead of pico-projectors we’ve tested such as the BeamBox or AAXA by virtue of its integrated 2.2-inch display, meaning the PMP functionality does not necessarily require the projector be active.
