spotify mobile for s60Streaming music-on-demand service Spotify threw the radio cat among the Nokia pigeons back in September, when it announced a S60 mobile client was on the way.  It’s taken a few months, but now that client has been released, bringing Spotify to more than thirty devices running the S60 OS; that’s not just Nokia handsets, either, since Spotify have made the necessary tweaks to get the app running on some S60 devices from other companies, such as the Samsung Omnia HD and the Sony Ericsson Satio.

Nokia announced today that the E63 will be making it’s way to our shores sometime within the next few weeks.  The E63 is a messaging device with a QWERTY keyboard and full HTML browser.

It’s been a mobile device bonanza this week, with the AT&T Fuze landing at SlashGear and promptly getting hauled over to the Sprint HTC Touch Pro for a damned good comparing.  Meanwhile HTC have set tongues wagging by fettling a version of the Touch HD for a Russian WiMAX carrier: they assure us that the HTC MAX 4G won’t be showing up anywhere else, but forgive us if we’re natural sceptics.  Meanwhile Verizon finally confirmed that the BlackBerry Storm 9530 would hit stores on November 24th, priced from $199.99, AT&T released the QuickFire, and Nokia confirmed the open-secret that is the E63 smartphone.

Nokia has officially announced the E63 smartphone, which we first saw back in October.  A candybar format handset with full QWERTY keyboard and a 320 x 240 display, the E63 runs the Symbian S60 OS and has quadband GSM/GPRS/EDGE together with WiFi and Bluetooth.  There’s also a 2-megapixel camera capable of QVGA 15fps video recording and a microSD slot to augment the 110MB of internal storage.

After details of the upcoming Nokia E63 smartphone leaked last week we’ve been waiting for some live sightings of the S60 3rd Edition device.  That’s come courtesy of Mobile Industry Review, who grabbed some hands-on time with the E63 – albeit branded Exx – at the Symbian Smartphone Show.  While there’s no new information here, the device was confirmed as looking ”like an E71, but it’s plastic”.

nokia e63 1Details and photos of the upcoming Nokia E63 have leaked, suggesting that the handset is a more basic, entry-level version of the E71 smartphone.  According to the new information, which is yet to be confirmed, the E63 will come in three versions, all GSM with UMTS HSPDA, a 240 x 320 display, full QWERTY keyboard, WiFi and Bluetooth.  Running Symbian v9.1 S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1, the E63 is thicker than the E71 and has an all-plastic body with only minimal metal highlights.  Two of the three versions will have a 2-megapixel camera, although none have a front-facing camera.
