With what must be a strong candidate for the longest press release of 2009, Audi have launched their new flagship, the Audi A8.  Since we usually save our interest in cars for only the most outlandishly technical or geekily endearing, the new A8 earns its place by bolstering its multimedia interface (MMI) with handwriting recognition, an optional 1,400W Bang & Olufsen audio system, twin 10.2-inch displays for the rear-seat passengers, and a 20GB hard-drive for digital media.

Sometimes a gadget comes along that is so pretty that, when you realise it has a spec-sheet more barren than the Sahara, you can’t help but tear at your chest and roar.  LG’s GD510 “Pop” isn’t quite so bad as all that, but it’s a handsome 3-inch touchscreen phone – the most compact ever with such a screen-size, they say – with a brushed aluminum body that throws out most of the things we take for granted in today’s handsets.  WiFi we can live without, but a handset lacking 3G?  For shame!

Don’t you just love a cellphone teaser campaign?  The answer you’re looking for is “No, Chris, we don’t” but sadly news of that fact is yet to reach LG.  After the success of their Chocolate series of cellphones, the company is unsurprisingly looking to milk that enthusiasm for all it’s worth: hence the shadowy preview photos and the PR hyperbole that the new LG Chocolate “will be a disruptive force in conventional mobile screens”.

LG has announced a prototype of a LCD panel that is illuminated by sunlight instead of the backlight unit when used in outdoors. Built for the use of notebook, the 14.1-inch sunlight-illuminated LCD can reduce power consumption by 75% with the new reflective mode; with a flip of switch, the multi-functional screen can toggle to the much-conventional transmissive mode as well, offers backlight support like the most of the laptops and cellphones for indoor-use.

Ultrasone make some bold claims with the HFI-680 headphones, promising the sound isolation of close-back cans with the “honest sound” of open ones. Given that it can be hard enough creating something pleasing in just one of those categories, have the headphone specialists bitten off more than they can deliver? SlashGear hit shuffle and set to finding out.

As expected, Apple’s Let’s Rock event this morning was decidedly focused on music, with updates to iTunes, the iPod nano and the iPod touch taking center stage.  Most significant change comes in the freshly-slimmed iPod nano: it’s the thinnest iPod to date, despite the 8GB and new 16GB sizes, with a curved metal and glass casing and new, longer display.  Inside, Apple have borrowed the accelerometer technology from the iPhone and iPod touch to bring slick transitions from portrait to landscape mode.  More details about the new iPod nano here.

It’s tradition that with every Guitar Hero game, there are rumors regarding “leaked” setlists that will show up from all over. I do believe that we have our first such list, which of course comes from someone with absolutely no explanation as to how they came upon it. Hit the jump for the entire list.

The hangman table lamp

By Abby McVay on Tuesday, Apr 8th 2008 No Comments

hangman table lampI have over time gotten a bit bored of my bedside lamp. Yes, it shines on my nightly read, but it’s just so normal. It doesn’t move, do tricks or even have a geeky flare. However, I think my search is over, this hang man is perfect for my bedroom.

Yes, it might creep out anyone who spots it, especially in the bedroom, but it’s just too morbidly fascinating to pass up. The table lamp called Colgao was handmade by en Pieza! studio.

The materials used were electric wire and iron which was treated to prevent corrosion. It was created sometime in 2007 but the site does not state how to get a hold of the product or when it might be released.
