Intel Pine Trail due Q4; products unlikely until early 2010

After ongoing rumors and speculation that Intel would miss their Q4 launch for Pine Trail, their next-gen Atom processor line-up, the company has again confirmed that the low-power netbook processors are on course to hit manufacturers in Q4 2009.  However the company will not be drawn on how long those chips will then take to show up in commercially-available devices: estimates suggest that Pine Trail based netbooks won't actually be on shelves until Q1 2010 at the earliest.

MSI to launch touchscreen Windows 7 Pine Trail netbooks in December?

It seems like ages since we last had a good Intel Pine Trail rumor, so here’s one with not only a company name but a date to go with it.  According to DigiTimes’ ever-clandestine “industry sources” MSI has decided to be the first OEM to launch a Pine Trail-M netbook, with December 2009 their settled window.

SlashGear Week in Review – Week 31 2009

Another week has come and gone and we are a week closer that that wondrous day parents look forward to all summer — back to school! Lots of goings on this week and much of it was centered on mobile phones. Spotify announced that it would have an official app available on the iPhone that works for subscribers on Premium packages. Monday, a bit more light was shed on the much anticipated Android donut update, alas it’s said to not be the OS 2.0 update we hoped for and won’t have multitouch.

Intel cuts netbook Atom Z-series supply claim insiders

If there’s one thing the past few days have shown us, it’s that speculation about processor plans can get confusing – witness Intel’s supposed Pine Trail delay and subsequent denials - but that certainly won’t stop the rumors from coming.  Latest leaks from “industry sources” suggests that Intel has told its customers that no more Atom Z processor orders for netbook devices will be accepted, which if true would mean that products such as the Sony VAIO P and ASUS Eee PC T91 would have to find different core components.

Acer Android netbook still planned for Q3 says firm

The netbook rumor denials continue apace, and after Intel have assured us that Pine Trail is right on track for a 2009 launch, now it's Acer's turn to reiterate that it really does have an Android-based netbook coming in Q3 this year.  Speculation began earlier this week after it was reported that the ultraportable had been delayed faced with lackluster consumer interest.

Pine Trail still on course for 2009 launch claims Intel

Talk, says Mooley Eden, of Intel’s Pine Trail being delayed into early 2010 is quite unfounded.  According to the latest from Intel’s Mobile Platform Group general manager, “Pine Trail is on schedule.  You can quote me on that … The three chip solution down to two chip solution [is] coming this year.”

Acer & ASUS delay Android netbooks; freeze launches until Pine Trail in Q1 2010

acer android netbookAcer and ASUS are tipped to have frozen new netbook launches in the second half of 2009, in response to Intel’s decision to postpone the launch of the Pine Trail-M platform – of which the Atom N450 processor is a part – until Q1 2010.  As part of that, Acer’s dual-booting Android/Windows XP netbook has been postponed with no known launch date; the netbook, first shown in prototype form at Computex in June, was most recently expected to arrive in August.

Intel Pine Trail nettop chips, plus Core i3 and Core i9 CPUs coming Q1 2010?

Intel logo2After word slipped out from Taiwan earlier this week that Intel were considering pushing back the release of the Pine Trail Atom N450 processor until the first half of 2010, now comes more specific news from PC manufacturers that both the netbook platform, Pine Trail-M, and its Pine Trail-D nettop sibling will both now arrive in the first quarter of next year.  That, say the unnamed sources, will coincide with the release of Intel’s 32nm Core i9 processors, codenamed Gulftown, and offering six cores.

Intel Pine Trail Atom N450 delayed to 1H10?

Intel’s Pine Trail platform, set to replace the company’s current Diamondville netbook/nettop architecture, could be delayed until the first half of 2010 so as to reassure vendors.  According to Digitimes Research senior analyst Joanne Chien, the Intel Atom N450 processor has been pushed back from its original Q4 2009 launch schedule so as to allow the existing netbook market to settle.
