Hot on the heels of the 720p HD screen option for the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 comes HP’s version, a 1366 x 768 HD display for the HP Mini 2140. The new screen option was promised back at the end of March, and leaves the netbook capable of displaying full 720p content on its 10.1-inch 16:9 aspect display.
Okay, so we heard about the HP 2140 awhile ago. It’s got a beautiful HD display sporting a 1,366 x 768 resolution and is sure to impress. However, it’s been a month now and the HP model still hasn’t made an appearance. So, what’s the deal?
MSI have released images of a new color version of their Wind U120 netbook, obviously intended for anybody not turned on by the original model’s bold black and white scheme. The new grey/black Wind U120 has a more sober casing, probably making it more appealing to the business and enterprise markets MSI originally suggested the netbook variant was aimed at.
MSI’s original Wind U100 remains one of the best-known and better-selling netbooks, not least because MSI niftily allowed other companies to use the OEM design and rebadge it for their purposes. Nothing lasts forever, though, and the company has a new range of netbooks out for 2009, the most distinctive of which is the MSI Wind U120. Does a new, “businesslike” monochrome casing make all the difference? LaptopMag have had one of the first U120’s on their test bench to find out.
Bad news for anyone looking forward to an HP Mini with an ExpressCard slot. Contrary to what the company’s website suggests, there is in fact no distinct HP Mini 1100 range, only different SKU versions of the existing Mini 1000 line-up. An HP representative has informed Crunchgear that the mention of ExpressCard on their support site was “an error” that is being changed.
HP are preparing to announce new netbooks in their HP Mini-note (aka Mini) range, including at least one model with integrated 3G access, according to manufacturing sources. The 3G model, believed to be called the HP Mini-note 2150, will arrive in June, and be preceded by an enterprise-focused model, the Mini-note 2140, in February.
HP has announced a new addition to their Mini line of netbooks, the Mini 2140. This new Mini has a sleek looking design due to its all-aluminum case, though its specs are typical for most netbooks. Check out the rest of the post for more details and a couple more pictures.
