eviGroup's new 10.2-inch tablet, the Pad, went on sale in its premium 3G-toting form a week ago, but if the €599 plus €30 shipping ($932) sticker price is too rich for your blood they've a cheaper model available from today.  The entry-level eviGroup Pad has the same specifications as the premium model but lacks 3G; it's on sale from today for €549 (again with €30 shipping; $852).

Given how long it’s taking eviGroup to push out their Wallet MID, we’re quite surprised with how quickly they’re working on getting their new 10.7-inch UMPC out of the door.  The eviGroup Pad has already had its first hands-on, courtesy of French site NowhereElse, who reckon the 1024 x 600 resistive touchscreen – even with a stylus – is responsive while Windows 7 runs reasonably on the 1.6GHz Atom processor.

Update: The Elite 3G version of the eviGroup Pad is on sale now for €599 plus €30 shipping ($932); they’ll also sell you an OS-free version for €539 ($799).

Weeks are flying by and it’s time for another week in review. Monday we learned that a new hack was available from the iPhone Dev Team that adds MMS to first generation iPhones and tethering to 3.1.2 OS for the later iPhone models. We also found out that Microsoft is set to issue a new update for the Xbox 360 that will break unauthorized storage devices. That means that some gamers will be unable to access the saved game data after applying the new update.

French MID/UMPC manufacturer eviGroup have released a few preliminary images of their upcoming Pad touchscreen tablet, and while we’re far from making up our minds about the Windows 7 slate yet, it’s looking reasonably attractive in a “digital pictureframe” sort of way.  The eviGroup Pad has a 10.2-inch 1024 x 600 resistive touchscreen, WiFi a/b/g and integrated 3G, and bundles a new “AI UI” called Seline which promises less pecking with a finger or stylus and more straightforward access to data.

French tablet company eviGroup have unveiled their large-display device – the eviGroup Pad – and like the rumors suggested it’s an Atom-based 10.2-inch touchscreen slate.  The Pad has a 1024 x 600 display, integrated WiFi a/b/g and 3G, and runs Windows 7; it also works with French software project Seline, a so-called “artificial intelligence” interface that supports spoken, text and handwriting control over various aspects of a computer system.
