Nokia Booklet 3G review

By Chris Davies on Monday, Nov 23rd 2009 No Comments

While many scoffed at the idea of Nokia building a netbook, the idea does have its share of merits. After all, the Finnish company knows a few things about eking out runtimes from compact batteries, and with netbooks being perhaps the most likely of computing devices to be in search of mobile connectivity, stuffing them with the sort of wireless access your high-end Nokia boasts certainly makes sense. Throw in eye-catching design and you’re onto a winner, right? Unfortunately, we’ve found the Nokia Booklet 3G falls short in other areas; check out the full SlashGear review after the cut.

Many of the most popular netbooks that Asus and other companies make use SSDs rather than traditional hard drives. The SSD helps the little systems get more run time out of their battery packs and helps them perform better. If you are looking for more performance from a netbook that came with an SSD from the factory, Active Media has a new line of upgrade SSDs called the SaberTooth S4 series.

Acer’s attempts to corner the touch market haven’t stopped at their multitouch notebook; the company has also outed a touchscreen all-in-one desktop, the Acer Aspire Z5610-U9072, with a 23-inch 1920 x 1080 HD display.  Running Windows 7 on a dual-core Pentium E5300 2.60GHz with 4GB of RAM, a 320GB hard-drive and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD4570 512MB video card, the Z5610 comes with Microsoft’s Touch Pack as well as Acer’s own TouchSuite.

It’s hard to believe it is October already and the leaves are already falling off the trees. Another week come and gone and today I am back with another week in review for your perusal. Here we are again with another week in review, let’s jump right in. A new 160GB Apple TV has popped up with better integration with iTunes 9. This is a good thing, I have one season of Heroes in HD on my 40GB unit and the thing is almost full. Samsung unveiled a new home theater projector this week called the P410M. With football season now going, a projector is a great way to watch the game with life-size players, assuming your room is large enough.

Did’t I just finish writing a week in review? That time again already? Ok, so here we go! Asus’ Eee netbook roadmap leaked this week showing us some of the new machines Asus has up its sleeves and tipping us off on the netbooks already on the market that will be going extinct soon. SanDisk got all official and stuff with a new low-end MP3 player called the Sansa Clip+. The thing gains a microSD card slot to accommodate that big bag of fail known as slotMusic.

Asus Eee roadmap leaked

By Shane McGlaun on Monday, Aug 31st 2009 1 Comment

Asus was the father of the booming netbook market when it tossed its first 7-inch netbook onto the market in late 2007. Since that time the netbook has gone on to become one of the best selling categories in the entire computer market.

Another week has come and gone leaving us with memories and a hoard of cool stories to throw your way for weekend reading in case you missed them over the week. An Asus 900HA netbook was hacked into a touchscreen slate on Monday and we really liked it. DIY gear is so cool, especially when it turns out this good. Monday also brought some details on the Blackberry Storm 2 piezo touchscreen tech. We really hope its better than the original Storm.

It was only a couple days ago that we outed the upcoming releases from ASUS, which included the Eee Box, where we informed you that the upcoming tech would come stock with a NVIDIA ION GPU. And now, according to an official Eee PC website, that seems to be the exact case. There are some other things that match up really well with that original post, so keep reading to see what this little box has in store for you.
