Sprint have announced their first EVDO-enabled netbook, though they don’t quite seem to have figured out the magic tipping point that really pulls in the customers. The carrier is offering a Dell Inspiron Mini 10 with integrated EVDO Rev.A, but rather than do the sensible thing and hack great chunks off the up-front price (while knowing you’ll make it back with the mandatory two-year agreement) their netbook is in fact $199.99, and that’s after the rebate.
Dell have finally given Inspiron Mini 10 buyers the option to upgrade to an HD-capable display. The 720p screen – which runs at 1,366 x 768 rather than the standard 1024 x 576 – was announced along with the Mini 10 itself back in February, but has taken until April to appear as an option.
From a behemoth of a Dell to a much smaller proposition: the Dell Inspiron Mini 10 netbook has finally gone on sale in the US. Having shown up on the company website at the tail-end of last week, the 10.1-inch netbook is now available preorder, with the earliest preliminary ship-date being April 2nd.
The long-awaited Dell Inspiron Mini 10 has finally made an appearance on the company’s US website, complete with full specifications and a gallery. Confirmed are the 10.1-inch display, running at 1024 x 576 16:9 with glossy finish, a choice of Intel Atom Z520 and Z530 processors (1.33GHz and 1.6GHz respectively), 1GB of RAM and either 120GB, 160GB or 250GB of storage.
The Dell Inspiron Mini 12 netbook has been officially announced, after the company tacitly confirmed the 12.1-inch budget ultraportable last Thursday. Rather than use the same 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU as its smaller Inspiron Mini 9 sibling, the Mini 12 has a choice of either a 1.3GHz Atom Z520 or 1.6GHz Atom Z530 processor, together with 1GB of RAM and up to 80GB hard-drive. It weighs from 2.72-pounds and measures just 0.92-inches thick, and will have a starting price of under $600.
The Dell Inspiron Mini 12, aka the Inspiron 1210 or “Dell’s 12-inch netbook”, has shown up on the company’s site, complete with a service manual and other details. Larger than the existing Dell Inspiron Mini 9, which uses an 8.9-inch LCD, the Mini 12 has a 12.1-inch 1,280 x 800 display and the pick of Intel’s Atom Z520 or Z530 processors paired with 1GB of DDR2 RAM.
