It looks as though Dell’s Inspiron Mini 9 netbook may be further delayed, with some order shipping dates reportedly extended to November 18th.  The netbook first encountered a hitch back in September, with reported problems sourcing the chassis assembly; now it appears that a back-order delay in the “LED cover” won’t be fulfilled until at least the second week in November.

Color us a little disappointed.  A leaked flyer has outed the pricing for Dell’s upcoming Inspiron Mini 9 netbook (aka Inspiron 910), which according to sources is set for an official announcement on Thursday 4th.  While we thought the initial rumors – which suggested a $299 price tag – were likely too good to be true, and while $349 is still affordable it’s a pity that Dell couldn’t bring the netbook in at under that magic $300-mark.

The much-rumored August 22nd release date for Dell’s upcoming Inspiron 910 netbook came and went, leaving potential buyers with a quandary.  As expected, many were students (or parents of students) looking for a back-to-school laptop, and Dell’s apparent delay could have pushed them into the welcoming arms of other manufacturers.  Now Gizmodo are reporting another leaked announcement date: Friday September 5th.

Intel UrbanMax concept 1Intel have been holding their annual Developers’ Forum in San Francisco this week, and quite a few prototypes and commercial products have come out to play. Of the former, most exciting seems to be the UrbanMax Tablet PC concept; of the latter, Viliv’s S5 MID and S7 UMPC both promise to crank the netbook market up a gear or two.

That’s probably not what Acer want to hear; the company has snipped pricing off of their Aspire One netbook, presumably remembering (only a little late) that the ultraportables are meant to be cheap. Not far from the shelves, Fujitsu’s Amilo Mini and Dell’s Inspiron 910 continued to leak information, but still no official word from the tongue-tied companies themselves.

Images of Dell’s Inspiron 910 netbook running Ubuntu have found their way to EngadgetInitial rumors have suggested that Dell would be announcing the netbook today, Friday August 22nd, but so far there has been no word from the company.  These new pictures, however, show a slightly modified keyboard, still with a Windows key that indicates Dell will definitely be offering a version of the netbook running a Microsoft OS (likely XP).
