This week the team at CyanogenMod - a real-deal company now, mind you - have revealed that they've attained a second round of major funding from new funders Andreessen Horowitz and Tencent as well as previously contributing groups Benchmark and Redpoint. This investment round brings up a whopping $23 million to the Android-based brand, this adding to the already invested $7 million from earlier this year - that's a cool $30 million the group is now working with.

The highly anticipated OPPO N1 is set to be released Dec. 10, OPPO announced this evening. The phone will come with ColorOS, an operating system based on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, but it will be easily convertible via an app to CyanogenMod, the Android distro installed by about 10 million users to date. This marks an early case of CyanogenMod being practically ready-baked into a high-profile smartphone manufacturer.

Popular Android tweak tool CyanogenMod Installer has been pulled from the Google Play store, after developers Cyanogen were warned by Google that if they didn't yank it, the search giant would. Released earlier this month, the CyanogenMod Installer Application effectively opens up an Android device to easier installation of the CyanogenMod package itself; as we ourselves found, it could take a regular Android phone to a modded one in just minutes. However, Google now says, it's encouraging users to void their device warranties, and has to go.
