Ubisoft will be releasing a DLC pack for Far Cry 2 and it looks like you won’t have to wait very long for the update. In fact, before November ends, you should be able to get the DLC, which is called “The Fortune’s Pack.”

Not only does it act as a gun for playing Wii games that could use that type of functionality, such as Link’s Crossbow Training, the game that comes with Nintendo’s Wii Zapper. It also offers up a laser sight and a ping pong ball-tipped arrow that actually fires.

This Christmas, bring the joy of gunishment into your home.  That’s the message Nintendo will be (covertly) sending to European households, with the 7th December release of their Wii-Zapper gun frame for the Wii console.  Basically a white plastic holder into which the numchuck and Wiimote clip into, the peripheral will be bundled with Link’s Crossbow Training and utilise your existing controllers.

Do you remember when we got the scoop on the upcoming Wii Zapper? It was rumored that along with the Zapper you’ll get a free Zelda game that was solely based around the crossbow. We’ve finally got some screenshots (and confirmatin) of said game.

Windows Mobile 6 announced

By Chris Davies on Thursday, Feb 8th 2007 No Comments

Windows Mobile 6In a move that has surprised schedule-lovers everywhere, Microsoft has prematurely lifted the embargo on Windows Mobile 6 and announced the mobile OS upgrade prior to its scheduled launch at 3GSM on Monday.  We’ve covered this Smartphone refresh before, under its codename ‘Crossbow’, but now we get to hear from testers who have been using it for the past month or so as to whether it’s a decent update (and, of course, whether it will hold up against the iPhone).

Available in three varieties, Classic, Standard and Professional (covering non-phone PDAs, non-touchscreen smartphones and touchscreen smartphones respectively), from initial reports it seem Microsoft has concentrated on making the user experience as clean as possible.  Seems like a sensible move; the OS has traditionally been praised with one hand for its power and functionality, but simultaneously spanked with the other for being a relative pain in the bottom to use.  Mail, Contacts & Phone and Live Messenger have all been vastly improved.  Check out pocketnow.com’s video of the OS in action after the cut, together with more screenshots and links to some first impressions.

After the Photoshop specials last week, all we really wanted was to see how the HTC Vox looks in the flesh plastic.  And courtesy of Lucretius over at moblog we now have some pictures of the keyboard-sliding super-smartphone, which interestingly enough appears to be running Crossbow, the latest incarnation of the Windows Mobile OS.

He has plenty more photos and some hardware information, albeit of this pre-release model, on his site, so if you’re planning to pick up a new smartphone over the next few months then you’ll likely want to check it out.

While Vincent gurgles happily as he unpacks his Vista goodie-bag, James Kendrick is enjoying the Vista experience shrunk down to a far smaller screen.  Only this time, it comes not from Microsoft but smartphone software developers JGUI.  If the thought of going from the beauty that is Aero to the poky confines of your Windows Mobile Smartphone (and let’s face it, even Crossbow isn’t that pretty) fills you with dread and the slight taste of bile in your throat, then maybe it’s time that some of the flagship OS gloss filtered down a little.

Vista Smartphone Interface could be described as a skin on steroids, but even then it’s doing it a disservice.  As James’ video shows, it recreates the whole Today screen as a dynamic slideshow – navigation between pages is smooth and slick, even widgets are recreated.

Trying it out couldn’t be simpler, as the basic Today tweaking is a free download.  The advanced version is priced at $19.99

It has been rumored that HTC may be coming out with a new smartphone called the Vox that gives you the best of both worlds when it comes to voice calling and computing. Like the HTC P4350, they maintain the slide out QWERTY keyboard for landscape-oriented computing, but have added a traditional numberpad to the front for regular candybay-style voice calling. Supposedly, this new phone will use Crossbow, the newer version of Windows Mobile.

It is believed that the Vox will have a 2.4-inch display along with the normal features of Wi-Fi, EDGE support, and Bluetooth. Other features include a 2 megapixel camera, microSD slot, and 96MB RAM/128MB ROM memory. But again, all this is rumor, and no official specs will be released until early next year.

If you’re in the market for a new cellphone, you want Mobile-Review to have taken a look at it.  They’re well known for not only getting their hands on handsets early, but for putting together indecently comprehensive reviews.  So it’s great to see they’ve taken a long hard look at the next-gen Windows Mobile, version 6.0 (codename Crossbow), and done a lovely big piece exploring all aspects of what appears to be an update rather than a revolution of the portable OS.  More screenshots after the cut.
