We’ve been waiting for a black Nintendo Wii to spread beyond Japanese shores for months now, and the company has gone one step toward that goal by at least promising the menacing console for a European launch.  As of November 6th, UK gamers will be able to pick up the black Wii – complete with matching Wii Remote, Nunchuk and MotionPlus peripherals – along with copies of Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort.

When that sinister looking black Wii console showed up there were many geeks who were excited about getting the console in a color other than the white we have been offered. It wasn’t long before we found out that the black Wii wouldn’t come to America.

Whew! The week is over already and this has been another busy one here at SlashGear with more new announcements and gear than we can shake a stick at. Things kicked off this week with a video of the LG BL40 Black Label feature phone hitting the Web. This was a good thing since we hate teaser campaigns. One of the cooler things from early in the week was the Fujifilm announcement of the FinePix Real 3D digital camera coming this year. The only downside is the camera is about $600 and the digital frame required to see the photos goes for another $200.

Nintendo has announced its new DSi, the update to the DS Lite, at the company’s Fall presentation in Japan earlier today.  As expected, it features the same dual-display clamshell layout as the DS (both larger at 3.25-inches, with the bottom display remaining a touchscreen) with additional media features: an external 3-megapixel camera, an internal video-call camera and an SD slot, together with internal storage.  The removal of the GBA cartridge slot has meant the DSi can be 12-percent thinner than the previous DS Lite.
