ColorWare Stealth MacBook Pro: $6k matte-black laptop

At the other end of the scale from ASUS’ new Eee PC colors comes an admittedly more-tempting prospect: ColorWare’s Stealth MacBook Pro. Taking a 15-inch 3.06GHz MacBook Pro as its base, the ink-wielders then throw their own soft-touch “zero gloss” finish at the unibody casing, and finish off the display with a matte coating.

ASUS Eee PC 1005HA and 1008HA get new color versions

You’ve got to hand it to ASUS: one way or another they’ll keep pumping out the Eee PCs until everybody has at least two of their various netbooks. If they’re not announcing a fresh model then it’s a new color scheme, and today the Eee PC 1005HA and 1008HA “Seashell” netbooks bear the brunt of ASUS’ designers felt-tipped pens.

ASUS Eee PC 1005HA Seashell: $390 and 10.5hrs battery

It comes as no great surprise, seeing as we saw the product page back in May, comparison shots with the 1008HA a few days after and an unboxing video a few days ago, but ASUS have now officially announced the Eee PC 1005HA Seashell. Available to preorder from today, the 1005HA Seashell has the usual Intel Atom processor – in this case the 1.66GHz N280 – paired with 1GB of RAM, but it also offers what ASUS are calling the longest-lasting battery life for one of their netbooks to-date: up to 10.5hrs, in fact.

ASUS Eee PC 1005HA gets video unboxing

We already know that the ASUS Eee PC 1005HA trades a little of its 1008HA Seashell brethren’s waifish slenderness for a full sized VGA port and removable battery, and now we’ve got the first unboxing video. Liliputing acquired a 1005HA a little in advance of the imminent US launch; check out their video after the cut.

ASUS Eee PC 1101HA gets official

Not exactly a huge surprise, given that it was spotted back at Computex earlier this month in both standard and integrated 3G forms, but ASUS have finally got official with their Eee PC 1101HA netbook. The 11.6-inch ultraportable shares the same “Seashell” stylings as the smaller Eee PC 1008HA and 1005HA, but uses Intel’s Atom Z520 1.33GHz processor and a WXGA 1366 x 768 display.

ASUS Eee PC 1101HA Seashell 11.6-inch netbook spotted

Details of a new ASUS Eee PC have been snapped at Computex 2009, ahead of the netbook’s official debut which is expected tomorrow. The ASUS Eee PC 1101HA slots into the company’s Seashell range, but offers an 11.6-inch 1,366 x 768 display versus the 10-inch screen of the 1008HA. There’s also Intel’s Atom Z520 or Z530 processors paired with 1GB of RAM.

ASUS, Wistron & Inventec Qualcomm Smartbook netbooks revealed

They may look like the ASUS Eee PC 1008HA, but these slender netbooks are actually the first demo units of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon-based Eee PCs. Based on Qualcomm’s 1GHz super-chip, the ASUS models – actually thinner than the 1008HA – were joined by machines from Wistron and Inventec.

ASUS Eee PC 1008HA teardown: sticky tape strikes again

Looks like we spoke too soon when we declared the ASUS Eee PC 1008HA Seashell a mostly tape-free zone. Netbook Italia have dismantled the skinny ultraportable, and their photos show there to be plenty of masking tape of the sort that so disappointed in the MSI X-Slim M340.

ASUS Eee PC 1005HA size-comparison with 1008HA Seashell

Cover the children’s eyes, it’s a pair of Eee PC’s getting close and snuggly. In actual fact, this is the ASUS Eee PC 1008HA Seashell – in white – and the Eee PC 1005HA – in black – showing that a removable battery does not a porker make. NetbookNews grabbed some comparison shots of the two netbooks, basically identical machines aside from a few millimeters thickness.
