Nokia Booklet 3G review

While many scoffed at the idea of Nokia building a netbook, the idea does have its share of merits. After all, the Finnish company knows a few things about eking out runtimes from compact batteries, and with netbooks being perhaps the most likely of computing devices to be in search of mobile connectivity, stuffing them with the sort of wireless access your high-end Nokia boasts certainly makes sense. Throw in eye-catching design and you’re onto a winner, right? Unfortunately, we’ve found the Nokia Booklet 3G falls short in other areas; check out the full SlashGear review after the cut.

ASUS Eee PC T91MT multitouch netbook gets reviewed

asus eee pc t91mt reviewed ASUS’ Eee PC T91MT multitouch-capable convertible touchscreen netbook may only just be available in the US, but that hasn’t stopped MyT91’s Kubel from scripting up a full review of the finger-friendly device. According to his report, the T91MT not only has a great keyboard but a reasonably effective touchscreen; it can only recognize two points of contact and has neither palm-rejection nor pressure-sensitivity, but it still manages to offer more touch-control than previous versions of the T91.

HTC has confirmed that Android 2.0 smartphones are incoming and the HTC Dragon is the likely first Android 2.0 device to come from HTC.

ASUS Eee Keyboard latest version gets video demo; might be delayed again?

The ASUS Eee Keyboard saga continues, and we’re beginning to think it’s the company’s version of vaporware. At their latest launch event in London, UK, this week, the Eee Keyboard – which squeezes a nettop and touchscreen into a keyboard form-factor, and was first debuted at CES back in January – was conspicuous by its absence, with ASUS telling Electricpig that the device was still mired in testing; however, ASUS have also been demonstrating their latest version of the Eee Keyboard to NetbookNews, with nary a mention of release delays.

SlashGear Week in Review – Week 43 2009

ASUS EeeTop PC ET2002 Review

Back when we reviewed the ASUS Eee Top ET1602 late last year, we suggested it could be the epitome of a niche product: netbook hardware squeezed into an unusual desktop case. Now all-in-ones are more common, and so ASUS have returned with an updated design, bigger screen and more media-centric intentions. The ASUS Eee Top ET2002-B024C sticks with Intel’s Atom CPU range but now pairs it with NVIDIA’s Ion graphics chipset for potentially 1080p High-Definition performance. ASUS Eee Keyboard manual, photos, UWB details arrive on FCC site

We’ve been waiting for the ASUS Eee Keyboard for a very long time, at least that’s how it feels, so it’s good to see some movement happening over at the FCC. They’ve just published the Eee Keyboard’s user manual, together with a whole batch of external, internal and wireless-testing photos. Among the details there’s a fair few shots of the media-centric nettop/keyboard hybid’s UWB (ultrawideband) system.

ASUS EeeBox EB1501 nettop with NVIDIA Ion and DVD debuts

ASUS have stepped up their nettop game with the arrival of the ASUS EeeBox EB1501. The first of the company’s range to include an integrated optical drive, the EB1501 also includes Intel’s Atom 330 dual-core CPU and NVIDIA’s 1080p-capable Ion graphics chipset, turning the neatly-balanced nettop into a pretty impressive media center PC.

ASUS G60 and G71X Republic of Gamers notebooks debut

ASUS have outed two new Republic of Gamers notebooks, the G60 and G71X, offering Intel Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Quad processors respectively. The two new laptops each have NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 260M with 1GB of dedicated memory, driving a 16-inch 1,366 x 768 display in the case of the G60, and a 1,920 x 1,200 in the G71X. Both machines have Blu-ray drives, dual HDDs set up in RAID arrays (640GB total in the G60; 1TB total in the G71X) and both HDMI and eSATA ports.

SlashGear Week in Review – Week 38 2009

Here we are again with another week in review, let’s jump right in. A new 160GB Apple TV has popped up with better integration with iTunes 9. This is a good thing, I have one season of Heroes in HD on my 40GB unit and the thing is almost full. Samsung unveiled a new home theater projector this week called the P410M. With football season now going, a projector is a great way to watch the game with life-size players, assuming your room is large enough.
