palm eosPalm’s “webOS Reset Doctor”, the tool intended to be used to reflash broken or bricked Palm Pre handsets, has leaked, and with it the full webOS ROM.  Intended only for internal use, the ROM has already been cracked over in the PreCentral forums, and it’s throwing up not only some interesting tidbits about Palm’s intentions for the Pre but about the rumored Eos second device said to be launching later this year.

Mention has been found in the code of both “castle”, assumed to be the Pre’s internal codename, and “pixie”, which has previously been tipped as the codename for the Eos.  Palm have never hidden the fact that the Pre is to be the first device of many to use webOS, but the presence of “pixie” in this first-gen code does seem to suggest that the handset is set to arrive sooner rather than later.

Apple are tipped to be preparing a new, cheaper MacBook Air range, complete with integrated 3G.  The rumor, currently uncorroborated, suggests that the new ultraportables would be priced between $1,300 and $1,500, considerably less than the $1,799 the MacBook Air presently starts at.

Rumors ran right up until a few hours before the Apple notebook event today and it seems most are being proven true. We got our first look at the new MacBook Pro today and as Steve Jobs said, “It’s just gorgeous.”

After a rather lengthy discussion of where the Mac has been, Steve Jobs got back on stage and revealed a rumor to be true. All of those “brick” rumors we’d been hearing about were confirmed. The new Apple notebooks are to be carved from a solid brick of aluminum for a lighter and stronger product.

The Apple MacBook ‘Brick’ event is just around the corner, but knowing that we’ll soon find out what Steve Jobs & Co have up their sleeves doesn’t stop the rumors from circulating.  bbGadgets have done some basic deduction from the shadowy notebook image in the Apple October 14th advert, and based on the typical size of the illuminated logo they’ve decided it’s a 13.3-inch model.
