If Acer’s Aspire 1410T (aka the Timeline 1810T) took your fancy but you’re a multitouch convert, how about a convertible tablet version of the same ultraportable notebook?  macles have spotted the Acer Aspire Timeline 1820T, ostensibly the same 11.6-inch 1,366 x 768 notebook with an Intel CULV 1.4GHz Core 2 Solo SU3500 processor and 2GB of RAM, but gaining a rotating screen hinge and a multitouch-capable touchscreen.

It’s probably fair to say that we haven’t been particularly impressed with what we’ve heard about Acer’s Aspire One 751. The phrase “pretty but dumb” has been muttered more than once, an aesthetically pleasing machine but one lacking in processing power. So when Acer offered us the latest version, the AO751h-1522, we jumped at the opportunity to see how it holds up to our own exacting standards. Check out the full review after the cut

suzuki neutron 701 mni netbookConsidering we were so quietly excited about the upcoming 7-inch Viliv S7 last week (and, frankly, before), we can’t really argue with this new touchscreen convertible netbook either.  The Suzuki Neutron 701 MNI has a name that’s both daft and reminiscent of early Eee PC models, but inside there’s that same Intel Atom Z520 processor that keeps popping up to frustrate us.

We didn’t especially like the Z520 when it came in the Acer Aspire One 751 – in fact we felt it hopelessly undermined it – but there’s always the chance that the dainty Suzuki might make better use of its equally-dainty CPU.

The weekend is here again fellow geeks and geekettes so I am back with another week in review. Monday more rumors surfaced that has Apple launching that long anticipated tablet device this November. The rumors further claim that the tablet will be aimed at gaming and media use. Early this week Verizon cut the pricing on all its smartphones save a few of the new ones to $99. That makes us think lots of new smartphone hardware is on its way.

Acer’s Aspire Timeline 1810T ultraportable has begun to show up in the wild, with at least two sites – ITC.ua and PCHome.net – getting their hands on the CULV ultraportable.  As you might expect, first impressions are that – in terms of the hardware you can see – the 1810T is very similar to the Acer Aspire One 751 it in effect replaces; unfortunately there’s no benchmarking feedback as yet to prove whether the ultraportable runs better than its lethargic predecessor.

Acer’s plan to replace the Aspire One 751 netbook with an 11.6-inch Timeline ultraportable – which we reported last month - has apparently come to fruition with this, the Acer Aspire Timeline 1810T.  According to macles, the 11.6-inch 1366 x 758 16:9 notebook swaps the AO751’s anemic Atom Z520 processor for an Intel ULV SU3500 1.4GHz CPU, up to 4GB of RAM and the Intel GS45 Express Chipset with integrated GMA 4500MHD graphics and hardware HD video decoding.
