Adobe have pushed their Flash Player 10.1 Beta out of the door, together with Adobe AIR 2, with the Windows version of the new Flash runtime supporting H.264 hardware acceleration.  The Mac and Linux 10.1 prereleases are yet to support that, and so far there’s no sign of a smartphone release as Adobe promised back in October; Adobe have confirmed, though, that the webOS beta for the Palm Pre and Pixi will appear sometime this year.

Looks like Dell’s SX2200T won’t have the whole multitouch monitor playground to itself.  HP have announced a new, Windows 7 compatible touchscreen display, the HP Compaq L2105tm, a Full HD 1920 x 1080 LCD with an optical touchscreen supporting one- and two-finger control.  There’s also, for those old-school moments, a plastic stylus hidden in a nook round back.

Acer’s attempts to corner the touch market haven’t stopped at their multitouch notebook; the company has also outed a touchscreen all-in-one desktop, the Acer Aspire Z5610-U9072, with a 23-inch 1920 x 1080 HD display.  Running Windows 7 on a dual-core Pentium E5300 2.60GHz with 4GB of RAM, a 320GB hard-drive and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD4570 512MB video card, the Z5610 comes with Microsoft’s Touch Pack as well as Acer’s own TouchSuite.

HP is the largest computer maker in the world and as such, it is always offering new and updated products for its customers. HP has gone official with the announcement of the dv8 multimedia notebook in the UK along with updates to its dv7 and dv6 notebooks. We already know about the dv8 from its September unveiling here in the US.

HP’s leaked consumer device catalog at the end of September warned us that the company had a new, 11.6-inch CULV notebook in the works, and sure enough HP Japan have just announced the new machine.  The HP Pavilion DM1 gets a dual-core 1.2GHz Intel Celeron SU2300 processor along with 2GB of RAM (5GB supported), a 250GB 5,400rpm hard-drive and Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics chipset.

HP have gone touch-crazy in the run-up to Windows 7’s release, pushing out several new touch-sensitive products including a 42-inch widescreen LCD.  The HP TouchSmart tx2 updates the original convertible tx2, and has a 12.1-inch capacitive touchscreen which also accepts stylus input; meanwhile there are two new TouchSmart desktop ranges, in the shape of the consumer-oriented HP TouchSmart 300 and 600 – at 20- and 23-inches respectively – and the business-centric HP TouchSmart 9100, a 23-inch model targeted at the hospitality and retail markets.

It’s hard to believe it is October already and the leaves are already falling off the trees. Another week come and gone and today I am back with another week in review for your perusal. We found out early this week that the Palm Pre is still headed to Verizon according to an insider. The alleged insider didn’t give any word on when exactly this may happen.

HP’s Winter 2009/2010 consumer device catalog has leaked, tipping a new touchscreen ultraportable together with confirming the company’s new CULV notebook and their Core i7-based desktop replacement.  The HP Pavilion dv3 with TouchSmart is a 13.3-inch 1,366 x 768 notebook with a touchscreen interface, up to 500GB hard-drive, 8GB of RAM and NVIDIA GeForce G105M graphics.

A range of budget all-in-ones, the C300 packs a 20-inch display, DVD drive and serious levels of storage and RAM; however they also adopt Intel’s low-power Atom processors. Multitouch chipset firm N-trig have announced a partnership with Fujitsu to produce their next breed of DuoSense touchscreen controllers.  The next-gen DuoSense system will not only be smaller than the existing version, but require less power and recognize “10 or more simultaneous touch points at very high refresh rates.”
