I didn’t think the games industry was in such dire need of saving that they have to con people into the same kind of contracts we’re conned into for our phones. Those ones that end up costing one more than if they’d bought the phone outright I mean.

Oh sure, I want to have to drive 4 hours or 250 miles to a Microsoft Store to find out that they canceled the program. Oh or even better 6 hours or 423 miles to a Microsoft Store to find out they canceled the program. What’s wrong with taking the code at the ONLINE Microsoft Store they are so hyping and having them deliver it to your door! Talk about a stupid marketing stratigy!

Let see $99 + $15*24 months = $459 Seems to be a bit pricey in the long run, and if the next xbox is released in that time frame.

$99 plus the extra $120 makes for a reasonable price I guess but the last thing thing I need right now is another monthly bill, particularly one under contract. The phrase “under contract” just makes my skin crawl. Edit: I’m subtracting the $60 yearly fee you already pay.

I didn’t know gaming needed to be saved. Sales slow toward the end of each console generation as people prepare for the next gen. When this happens the manufacturers try to find new ways to breath life into their console sales; this is just an example of that.

People aren’t NOT playing their PS3s and XBox 360s in favor of their phones and tablets. Those are two very different types of gaming. If you look at game sales, that will give you a better estimate on the health of the gaming industry, and since there were several sales records absolutely annihilated in 2011, I would say the industry is doing just fine.
