I have the latest Google Nexus S and an iPod, not even an iPhone, yes, Nexus is can do more, and yes, iPod outperforms Nexus S on quality and applications.

I guess I will wait for iPad 2, the Motorola commercial is nice, but none of the Google products can match Apple so far, they should have paid attention to that point before they priced it :-)

Sorry it is on par with an IPAD how many flocked to buy their little lie from Apple. It might be a little high but so is the IPAD, that should have been half of what people paid for it. This has more features and all Andriod is gonna be better than iOS. If Apple made a tablet that used the full OS I would buy it until then I am going with Android. IPAD has 3G people flocked to get that. Yes Android cant put out poop in a bag and have people buy it for $100. There will be a lot of units sold when it comes out it just wont be the fanboy attraction like the Apple products. Anyone wanna bet the IPAD 2 will cost about 20-40 more than the old IPAD?

3G/4G is sorta useless on a unit above 5" but sometimes you will use it. Otherwise just tether it to a phone if you can and use that connection. Not to difficult. It will be interesting to see if this or the playbook sells more.

If this also used the Pixel-Qi screen that the flop from Notion Ink used, this would be a very nice device. I think Notion Ink might end up being a software company in the future and not a hardware unit/tablet company.

I don't understand this stupidity. Why does anyone want a 3G/4G radio in a 10in or larger tablet? The majority of the people that would buy this would use it at home with thier WiFi connect. Those of us that may take it out and about from time to time will likely have smartphones that we could use as WiFi hotspots for the device.

Make this thing WiFi only for $599 and it will sell. This is the same stupid mistake Samsung made with the Galaxy Tab.

btw, WHERE THE HECK IS THE WIFI ONLY GALAXY TAB????

These are currently seen as luxury items by the hardware manufacturers and carriers so they are going to charge a premium.

I'l wait for the Asus Transformer for $499 (if they keep their word on that price) and get a tablet/netbook all in one.

So let me get this straight. The xoom costs 800.00 with tax that is going to be like 870.00. Then verizon wants me to set up a data plan (with me it will probably have to be the 5 gig plan) so that is 80.00 more. So were looking at over 900 bucks just so I can surf the net on a tablet instead of my droid or net book. There is no way in hell that I'm doing that. If this is how the tablet thing is going to be, then I will happily keep using my laptop as my portable device. And I bet that 80% of consumers feel exactly like I do. Suddenly I don't care about the motorola xoom anymore.

These prices are crazy !!!

I just don't understand the thinking behind it. An ARM tablet is clearly not a luxury item even if dual-core with 1Gig of RAM. Why should anyone try to sell it at luxury-level prices??? These are secondary devices at best, not your primary computer for which may be willing to pay a lot.

The Samsung Tab has clearly failed with this approach, Samsung and partners had to lower the price of the Tab significantly in order to generate sufficient sales. The Xoom will follow exactly the same path. They will sell only small amounts and will have to lower the price by 30-50% to get rid of the inventory.
