The new iPad mini should be introduced to substitute the iPod touch. Let imagine to have a 7.85-inch retina display providing the same resolution of iPad2 (then ready for all iPad software already available) with the same price of iPod touch. A perfect gaming console!
Morover, if I have an iPhone I will never buy an iPod touch but, of sure, I will buy the new iPad mini!

I would certainly be pretty excited to see this come out. One thing that I have always felt Steve Jobs was wrong about is that tablets can be smaller than the ~10in size. I'm sure they have had this size of tablet on their test bench for a while and it will be cool to see if Apple brings this to market especially if it comes at a price to compete with the Kindle Fire. Even though I can't imagine Apple taking a loss on hardware like Amazon does.
