Nope, I've spotted the bench mark testing and haven't seen one lay down result towards iphone4s. It still struggles to beat the galaxy and its the newest phone on the market..

Also I'm sitting here with galaxy left hand, iphone right hand. I'm finding it hard to see why this iphone is better than one if the top range android phones. or even as stylish for that matter. Performance wise the android devices get better and better and should be recognised for the top quality performance they are today I'm fine with iphones, however in not with the clowns that defend them likes is their life at stake.

Oh and one more thing in response to your original post. I paid exactly $0 for my iphone 4s and in fact have had every single iphone made since the start. The first one was the only one i paid more than $50 for. Reason...apple iphones hold their value MUCH better than android phones. i was able to resell each of my iphones on ebay and use the cash to fund each new phone that came out. By selling each year i am able to get rid of my old phone before its obsolete & make a ton of money on it. That combined with the early upgrade discounts at&t offers its more than enoungh to cover the new phone.

Performance of the 4s beat every android phone out there. Look at the benchmarks. Specs arent everything. The specs have to work well with the software, a concept apple has mastered. If u have ever used an iphone u would realize that its android users who are compromising. Iphones look better, perform better, and run much more seemlessly than android. Yes android does most of what apple does but apple does it far better. Screen size is the only thing android has over apple & that for many people isnt a flaw. Some of us are men who dont want to buy purses to carry around the massive android phones that are comparable to the iphone 4S.

Aaaaand...
Absolutely none of what I wrote has anything to do with Apple's balance sheet.

Although you didn't read, you can't be so dense as to think Apple wouldn't benefit from improving.
Apple has gone from 'miles ahead' to 'playing catch up'.
The issue has nothing to do with how well they are doing today.
Look at RIM.

I'm pretty well iOpposed, I wouldn't stoop to getting my wallet sucked by their Dyson ecosystem, I wouldn't pay $649 for an iPhone 4S or $549 for an 18-month-obsolete iPhone 4, when I can do more with my $499 off-contract Galaxy SII with a much bigger screen, more powerful processor, and longer battery life on a more robust OS in an ecosystem and on a codebase that aren't hidden behind closed walls or controlled in manipulative ways.

That being said - I love the physical designs of Apple products, even though the iPhone 4 and 4S have endured some unfortunate physical and practical sacrifices in return for an artistic impression.

I wish I could be in Jonathan Ive's shoes!

First thing I'd do would be to get closer with the engineering team. Work in symbiosis with them, rather than as an artist on an island in a bubble. Yes, Apple has a walled culture... but let's not let it impact functionality and practicality, and don't let your ego say things like "I know best".

Second thing I'd do would be to create a task team to tackle functionality and practicality concerns. They could start simply with gathering common criticisms as well as key advantages that iPhones have always had, and tackle the criticisms while respecting the advantages.

And honestly, if any of the mockups and rumors are true about the iPhone 5, it looks like they ARE in fact tackling those things. That teardrop shape that no longer leaves exposed glass edges, looks potentially just as classy and upscale, but is practical for everyday life without requiring a Wii-mote style wrist strap to quell paranoia over dropping, bumps, and jars, and constrains the antenna again safely inside, as well as increasing to a now-expected 4" screen size. With improved internals and retaining Siri, THAT would be a great iPhone.

I still wouldn't take a bite of that Apple though.
Unless I actually DID work for Apple, and had to. But then I'd be on the inside looking out, which is a whole different view than being on the outside looking in.

Hey my man. I'm like yourself. When i have a phone i truly like and upgrade i like to keep them close. So i like you gave my phone to my mother to use. I unlike use the Galaxy phones but that doesn't change the similarities. My mothers old phone was a Nokia N95. So her first touch screen phone was going to be the Galaxy S. She was intimidated at first using this touch screen, but in only days she was familiar with the basic functions of the phone. And after a few months she was a little more familiar with some not so basic functions. One day i had my 3 year old niece over and it was about 3pm in the afternoon. I had been up before 6am and was very tired once home. My niece was a little tired also and got up onto my knee in my chair. In maybe seconds we both drifted off into a deep sleep. Once we woke about 3 hours later my mother had this grin on her face. To my shock she had taken a picture of the two of us and uploaded it onto facebook as it was "So cute" in her words. My mother went from a person who couldn't turn the A/C on in a car to someone who not only could take a picture with a phone, but also ad facebook and upload pictures with her phone. Pretty impressive from the Grandmother of 8. We talk about simplicity its nothing but simple to use. Shes also long sighted but rarely needs her bifocals on to read the screen for basic things such as phone calls contacts sms incoming calls gallery pictures.

But we do differ on comfort and size. See i believe 8.9" is perfect size for tablets, and 3" is perfect size for the mobile phone pocket wise. But we live in a world where we split everything around about no on the mark. The I-Phone is a good size. But its still bulky and heavy compared t larger phones. Ad to that some protection in way of case and it truly feels weighty and depth heavy.
I have a Samsung made slip in case for my phone. It keeps the weight down and keeps it thin.
My Nephew makes jokes at the size of my phone (SGS2) saying you could hurl it at someones head like a brick its that big. But he knows his phone (I-Phone4s) needs to audition for the biggest loser in 2012! lol.

Once we woke about 3 hours later my mother had this grin on her face. To my shock she had taken a picture of the two of us and uploaded it onto facebook as it was “So cute” in her words. My mother went from a person who couldn’t turn the A/C on in a car to someone who not only could take a picture with a phone, but also ad facebook and upload pictures with her phone.

See i believe 8.9″ is perfect size for tablets, and 3″ is perfect size for the mobile phone pocket wise.
But he knows his phone (I-Phone4s) needs to audition for the biggest loser in 2012! lol.

I have three iPhones, 1 Windows 7 phone and 2 Android phones in my household. Therefore, I have had a fair amount of comparison of these phones for SW, HW and ecosystem around the phones for some time now. I think Apple is playing a catch up now in terms of screen size and performance features, while getting vigorously pursued by Android in terms of usability. This competition is great for consumers, as long as they duke it out in the field of innovation, not in courts. BTW, I have done what you suggested with my Galaxy S-II and am convinced that I like my phone better. :) It's a matter of personal preference, really.

I can understand why some, correction many would want a bigger screen for the iPhone. But I have owned the 3GS and 4. I loved every single one at the time they were released, in fact I have never sold my older iPhone except in the case of 4 where I sold my 16GB for a 32GB version. I literally had the 16GB filled up with only apps if you can believe it. I donated the 3GS to my not so tech savvy mom. She has family abroad and the iPhone through apps like yahoo messenger video chat, google voice and many other apps became a priceless piece of technology for my mom. I was pleased to have provided her with my old phone that she uses everyday now. My mom previously had to use a netbook to connect to those mediums and had a great deal of trouble simply connecting. Due to some new issue everyday, which i initially blamed my moms lack of skills for, but came to realize its more the PC fault. At first my mom did not like the phone, she out right said its screen it to small, she's far sighted, and that she would probably never use it. My mom today uses one device that works properly and she rarely needs support from me because apple is such a simplistic device. I recall her saying to me that I can not live without this iPhone. I on the other hand just require more storage space of my iPhone. Other then that I swear by iPhone 4, I have yet to 4s, I have heard nothing but great things about it, Siri especially. The iPhone 4 is perfect size for me, but I'm not a big buy I'm smaller and honestly its the comfort of the phone in my pocket that the greatest asset. When I sit, and the iPhone is in my pocket, I sit with ease, I have no discomfort and do not require moving it. I hope they do release a slightly bigger size iPhone so I can purchase it for my mom. I on the other had have found a great benefit to the iPhones size and i hope you use this technique too, it brings a great feeling, or more like a great sense of amusement at others expense. Whenever an android or windows smartphone user boasts about his phone to you, pointing out the mini HDMI, expandable micro SD, or whatever feature that was manufacture through frivolous material. Ask them to place their phone flat on the table or any surface and then take your iPhone, it doesn't matter which one you have. Start from a corner of their phone and match your corresponding corner on the iPhone and lay it on top of theirs. I guarantee you the smaller size difference and style of the iPhone from that angle will instantaneously make the other smartphone owner jealous, angry and down right irritated. I speak from experience regarding all of the examples where i've pulled this technique. It will make all those extra feature that the iPhone doesn't have disappear.
