It's funny because after all of that talk about MS being rigid on device specs, the device specs are what hold the devices back in terms of popularity.

I think it's just over-saturation. Plain and simple.

Agreed. However, to be fair, from the general feedback and response so far, it seems that the OS is good and people are positive about it's upside in spite of some key features missing e.g. multitasking and copy & paste. I think the problem is the hardware. They at least need the very latest cutting edge specs in Windows Phone 7 handsets to at least garner much needed excitement in addition to more appealing designs.

I'm a long time iPhone user and have played around with Android and Windows Phone 7. I love the user experience of Windows Phone 7, even in it's current, early state but Microsoft have their work cut out for them in a big way. They can't afford any more mistakes when they are so clearly behind the front runners.

But yes, we're not going to see any real sales number from Microsoft because they're nothing to boast about.

Microsoft is boasting about developer numbers.

Microsoft is boasting about app numbers.

The only thing Microsoft refuses to reveal is the number of users of Windows Phone 7. We already know it has suffered lackluster sales. How lackluster is the only question.
