Be honest with me now. Do women actually need their own, specially-designed sat-nav? Mio seems to think so, although “specially-designed” to them appears to mean “slap some flowers on it”. The H610 has the dubious pleasure of being the first GPS unit aimed squarely at woman, costing £280 ($532.50) and sporting a variety of interchangeable bezels. There are maps of 24 European countries as well as in excess of 1.8 million TeleAtlas POI, but of course women will be more interested in the clothing size conversion calculator also built-in.

I find myself more than a little embarrassed on Mio’s behalf. How they ever thought this was a good idea is beyond me; I can only assume they looked at the fad for aftermarket cellphone shells back in the days of the Nokia 3360 and thought they could cash in six years later.

There’s nothing to be embarassed about. If you do not like flowers, you can always use the plain white cover the Mio H610 comes with, or choose some other cover that looks more masculine. Mio just wanted to give customers the ability to personalize their portable GPS, which I think is a plus. Also, the Mio DigiWalker H610 is one of the hottest ultra portable GPS with great features and specs. Can’t wait to get my hands on it as soon as it comes out sometime in Nov ‘06 (US).
I am with Moon. Who cares about the cover? You can always change it or use default one. Also this unit is very nice, small and compact. I have MIO C310 and love it. It shares the same software as H610 but is more car friendly since it has buttons for volume and menu jump on the side. Still H610 is cool since it has video player and games, but I’ve seen posts where people tweaked their C310s to add video player and other application since device runs on Windows CE.
All I can say is Garmin, TomTom and other big guys better watch out, MIO is out!
