Volkswagen’s current all-white advertising theme seems futuristic even as it is modern, but its nothing compared to the sleek and minimal cars they are envisioning humming along the road in 20 years. Their 2028 line features cars for the single passenger up to a full sized family vehicle.

The 2028 site features a film of a father and son discussing the good ol’ days when people owned cars, parked them, and filled up at the pump. Volkswagen then reveals that in the future, cars are swapped at will with the push of a button. They arrive on time, don’t use fossil fuels, and drive themselves.

In the film, the young boy is incredulous at the notion of traffic jams and accidents. Volkswagen envisions cars communicating with each other in order to better control the flow of traffic. While this could be not only a time saver, but a life saver, I’m more excited about getting rid of those ridiculous traffic updates on morning radio.
