2016 Nissan GT-R Anniversary Gold Edition announced

Nissan has happily been pumping out special editions of its awesome GT-R over the last few model years. We have the Nismo version of the sports car for instance. For 2016, Nissan has announced that pricing will remain unchanged for GT-R models and has unveiled a new special edition for the 2016 model year.

The special edition of the GT-R is meant to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the GT-R. If you only know the latest version of the GT-R that has been here in the states, you may not think the car has been around that long. Nissan has sold the GT-R exclusively in Japan for most of the car's life.

The 45th Anniversary Gold Edition is built on the GT-R Premium model and gets special gold paint and a special gold tone VIN plate inside the engine compartment. The center console for the car also gets a special 45th Anniversary plate. Nissan only plans to build 30 of the anniversary edition cars for the US market selling for $102,770 each.

GT-R models get a bit more power this year with Premium and Black editions now rated for 550hp. The Nismo version remains rated for 600hp. GT-R Premium cars also get new 20-spoke RAYS aluminum forged wheels with a dark finish. Pricing for the GT-R line starts at $101,770 for the GT-R Premium, the 45th Anniversary model is only $1000 more, the Black Edition sells for $111,510, and the Nismo is $149,990. All cars are subject to a $1595 destination and handling charge.
