2016 Chevy Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition to offer 650 horsepower

Today Chevrolet announced the upcoming arrival of its 2016 Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition, a limited edition rendition of its Corvette Racing C7.R racers. The car won't be available until some time later on this year, and only 500 units will be made. When they do arrive, however, they'll be offered in black and yellow livery with accents and interiors to match. Included with the models will be "a specially serialized" vehicle identification number, marking its limited-edition uniqueness, as well as the Z07 Performance Package.

Chevrolet announced the upcoming limited edition model on Friday, saying that it will pay homage to its aforementioned race cars. With the C7.R Edition will come a graphics package, 3LZ trim, Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, Michelin PS Cup 2 tires, brake calipers painted yellow, a visual carbon fiber ground effects package, Spectra Gray Metallic vents and grilles, and a high-gloss carbon fiber interior trim package.

The interior will feature Jet Black leather coupled with yellow contrast stitching and microfiber accents on the doors and instrument panel. A plaque on the interior will also be numbered with the build number, with the VIN starting at 700001, according to Chevrolet.

Other notable features will include a car cover for indoor use with C7.R graphics, Corvette Racing sill plates, a "visible carbon fiber hood section", Corvette Racing logo center caps on the wheels, which will be black with a yellow accent strip. Under the hood, drivers will find a supercharged LT4 engine offering 650 horsepower, an electronically-limited slip differential, and some tech like Magnetic Ride Control.
