2016 BMW Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe gets 60hp power bump

BMW has pulled the wraps off the slick new 2016 BMW Alpina B6 xDrive Gran Coupe. The car has been souped up for 2016 with significantly more power and torque. The 2016 version of the car gets an extra 60hp and more torque from the twin turbo 4.4L V8 engine compared to the 2015 model. That brings total power output to 600hp and 590 lb-ft of torque.

The extra power was squeezed out of the engine thanks to a revised fuel system and a redesign of the air intake ducting and air filter housing. The xDrive portion of the vehicle name means that it has full time AWD to give better traction in all driving situations. The car is able to reach 60mph from a standstill in 3.6 seconds according to BMW.

That number makes the 2015 B6 Alpina the fastest accelerating Alpina model ever developed. The car has an electronically limited top speed of 200mph. BMW also gives the Alpina advanced electronic suspension with Dynamic Damper Control and Adaptive Drive. Those systems work with the xDrive AWD to improve driving dynamics.

The 2015 B6 Alpina will come with full LED adaptive headlights with High Beam Assist and a powerful braking system with blue calipers and Alpina lettering. An 8-speed Alpina Switch-Tronic transmission has multiple driving modes and changes gears by pressing switches on the back of the steering wheel. Pricing will be announced closer to launch and the car will be in dealerships in the US this summer.
