2015 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport gets 2.4L engine

Mitsubishi has announced a more powerful version of the Outlander SUV for 2015 with two version of the SUV getting a larger 2.4L engine under the hood. The standard engine for the SUV has been a 2.0L 4-cylinder. The 2.4L MIVEC engine produces 168hp, 20hp more than the standard 2.0L offering. Presumably, the engine offers ore torque as well, but that number isn't offered.

The two new models that will get the larger 2.4L engine are the Outlander Sport 2.4 ES and Outlander Sport 2.4 GT. The Sport 2.4 ES will start at $21,295 and features a black center bumper to set it apart from the standard ES trim. The Outlander Sport 2.4 GT will start at $23,595.

The latter will have additional features like a power driver seat, leather-wrapped parking brake handle, aluminum pedals, and exterior enhancements like a black center bumper, black roof rails, and outside mirrors that have LED turn indicators. An optional GT Premium Package will also be offered.

The Premium Package includes a 710W Rockford Fosgate premium sound system with nine speakers and a sub with Punch Control DTS Neural Surround and more. The Premium package also includes a panoramic glass roof with adjustable LED mood lighting and an auto dimming rearview mirror. A GT touring package adding leather seats and navigation is optional as well.
