2015 Chevrolet Colorado Sport concept truck breaks cover

For years, there were a handful of offerings in the mid-size truck market before some of the stalwarts in the segment pulled out. Ford and Chevy left the market ceding it to Nissan and Toyota as the only two automakers producing mid-size trucks in the last few years. Chevrolet is set to come back to the market with a redesigned Colorado truck.

The automaker is now unveiling a concept version of the 2015 Colorado called the Colorado Sport Concept, and the truck looks fantastic. The sport concept was unveiled at the 2014 State Fair of Texas, where trucks are often unveiled. The Colorado will come in extended or crew-cab models with either a 2.5L 4-cylinder or 3.6L V6 engine under the hood.

That V6 will tow 7000 pounds when properly equipped. One of the big features of the Colorado and the Sport concept is the GearOn Accessory System that allows the driver to carry larger items like bikes or kayaks above the bed of the truck. The benefit to that is that you can still pack the bed completely with gear.

The 2015 Colorado truck will start at $20,990 for a four-door extended cab with the 200hp engine. The Sport concept has special wheels that Chevy says are being evaluated for production. The purchase price of the vehicle does include scheduled maintenance for the first 2 years or 24,000 miles.
