I see. So if Rolex had a $10 watch and a $100 watch. You want a Rolex but can't afford more than $15 on a watch. Are you gonna buy the watch in your budget or are you gonna neglect other items so you can buy the $100 watch? People will buy the cheaper item from a brand name. People want to get an entry variant more than a luxury variant.

I can use the same example with Mercedes, and many other manufacturers. I agree you will not have as good of quailty with the cheaper item versus the more expensive one. But most people don't care they want to say they own a "Apple, Mercedes, etc." Now yes Mac computers are better and nicer, quality I can't say that as much. I have owned Mac computers, quality is on par with other brands and are slightly over priced for what they are. More people would buy a mac computer if they were competively priced with other computers of equal specs. If they dropped their price to be more in line with what it is you will see more sold.

Does that help you understand the easy debunking of this article. People will buy a $100 ipod and use it with a Windows based computer because they dont want to have to pay the extra 1.5x-3x the price of an equally spec'd Mac. Windows are just cheaper therefore people will buy those computers and use the extra money for other things.

Yeah they are short by 64 Million products. I had to check with the 37 million they stated just to see if that was their error. Must be a copy and paste with no checking of facts. Maybe they are anticpating future sales. Haha, well if they move the OS X to be more like iOS how many people will not buy a mac computer? To me OS X is the only good OS that Apple has to work with and they are screwing it up trying to make it more of a mobile OS.

Who wants the new HP Z1 AIO workstation like me? That thing is amazing and just what I want. Puts the iMac into a deep hole to climb out of. You can do whatever upgrades you want on it instead of going to a "genius" at a store.

I agree with Amoyer_01. This is easily explained by the exorbitant pricing of Apple products. Their products have never been worth the money, it is all about image.

Like this is hard to fathom.....why buy a mac computer for thousands of dollars compared to an iOS device that costs only a couple bucks or a couple hundred. Seems like an easy choice if you like iOS. Though I prefer OS X, not sure I like the direction of the new Mountain Lion that I have read about. If Apple does any touch computers do not do it to the Macbook line. Onlt leave it to the iMac and the Cinema displays. You wants to reach over their laptops keyboard to use the screen.

My bet is that they will eventually have to merge iOS and OS X for it to be touch. Then they will be following in Windows footsteps. Will there be outcrys like we are seeing with Windows 8? I bet we wont, which is very htpocritical.

$100 vs. $2000, I will take a $100 device. People buy it more for the "status symbol" that is why you see more iOS devices sold, it is really not that hard to figure out.
