Rumors of Nintendo dropping the Wii’s price have circulated for months now, and it seems someone in Japan has finally seen sense.  According to a leaked email to Best Buy staff, as of September 27th the Nintendo Wii will be dropped from $249.99 to $199.99.

The email also suggests that Nintendo will make an announcement about the upcoming price drop on the previous Friday, September 25th, though we can’t imagine they’ll see many sales in-between then and Sunday when the new figure goes live.  Earlier this week, Square Enix chief Yoichi Wada tipped the new Wii HD as coming in 2011.
