1968 Pennies - The Collectors Edition

A lot of people collect coins, heck, most of my family does. My dad collects the state quarters, my grandpa has several silver plated bills and I collect a mishmash of things I consider odd: silver/gold dollars, half dollars and two dollar bills mostly, though, I do also have a quarter that folds up and a penny that hides a dime inside. Coin collecting isn't a new idea but the people behind 1968pennies.com have come up with a great way to expand their collection.

Their specific collection, it may surprise you to know, is only 1968 pennies. That means no 1983 or 1974 pennies allowed. They are asking that anyone and everyone send in any 1968 pennies they may have because of the 4,858,503,583 pennies minted in 1968 countless have been lost forever and they need our help to save this endangered coin!

Now, if you do send in your coins you will become a contributor to this collection, you'll have your name placed on the list and everything. Don't worry, they would never spend the coins you send in, it's too valuable as a collection to cash in. Right now, they only have 9,887 pennies.

Come on people, we need to work together. I happen to know of another worthy cause. It's the 2005 five dollar bill and it needs our help too! I will personally see to its recovery, please send all your 2005 five dollar bills to me and help us come one step closer to ending monetary endangerment.
