Actually, Microsoft employees had to wait until Nov. 18th to get their phones. So 10 days, not a month. And there is no mass purchase by Microsoft happening. Employees go to their local store to buy them just like everyone else, and Microsoft is reimbursing for the cost.

Article is resourceful. MS employees had to wait a month to go buy the phone…so they weren’t included. Neither were Dell employees…

The main WP7 competitors are the WP7 sellers!
the time iphone and androud were launched, all cell phone shops threw huge adversiting campaigns and sales reps and workers at mobile shops were actually working hard on convincing people to buy these phones and discussing their advantages and innovations to people, even the most trivial ones.
However, i didn’t notice this enthusiasm with WP7. I was even asked by some sales guy about the reason I’m interested in WP7 while he was looking me shockingly! It’s so sad that those people just show those WP7 yet they don’t encourage anybody to buy them!

So, 135k – 90k = 45k is the actual number, because 90k is the number of microsoft employees who got this thing as a gift.

Not really, the built in Facebook client is “decentralized”. Information is given through your people app. The problem is that if you have a lot of FB friends, you will have a lot to checking/navigation or if you do not wish to have this information in your people app at all, you might want to download the app. Or if you are like me, a kind of hybrid approach. I only have a subset my FB contacts in my phone, so i only follow them through people and for everyone else, i use the FB app.

The phone devices were not as plentiful as they should have been at US launch, so the fact that getting a device can be challenging is certainly not going to help the numbers up to this point.

MSFT is going to provide all their employees with a free WP7 device, but they have not yet done so. They are purposefully delaying until the market has enough devices that is can easily tolerate the volume purchase that Microsoft will be making.

While I have no idea what numbers look like in terms of sales, I can only guess that they will skyrocket as (a) people try out the OS and see how fantastic it is, (b) more carriers offer the devices, (c) the patch is released to remove any hesitations people may be having due to the bad press about lack of copy/paste and multitasking for 3rd party apps.

The new OS is a “game changer”, just as it has been advertised. If you disagree, I can only guess that you likely have not spent any time using WP7. Phenomenal…

Something isn’t adding up… wouldn’t that only cover the MS employees and their free phones? Most WP7 phones were sold out in stores for the past month and it looks like stock is just getting back in now. Maybe MS bought up all the phones to give to their employees.
