'10 Cloverfield Lane' trailer reveals J.J. Abrams' latest movie

To the surprise of fans and movie goers everywhere, J.J. Abrams has been silently working on a sequel to his 2008 movie Cloverfield, and it is starring John Goodman. The sequel is called 10 Cloverfield Lane, and the trailer for it was released today on Paramount Pictures' YouTube account. There aren't many details at this point, but the trailer does an excellent job of presenting the foundation of the movie, hinting that it is set in a post-Cloverfield apocalypse.

The trailer, below, shows a trio of characters living in a bomb shelter or bunker of some sort. It has all the trappings of home, certain elements excepted, but tensions are clearly high between Goodman's character and Mary Elizabeth Winstead who, perhaps, is playing his daughter.

She wants to leave the bunker but Goodman's character is clearly keeping her from leaving...and for good reason, ones she doesn't seem to understand. Her lack of knowledge about the situation leads her to bash him over the head and make a run for it; she's successful, but when she gets her first look at the outside world, whatever she sees stops her in her tracks.

Fortunately, we don't have to wait long for the rest of the details — the movie arrives in theaters March 11. The movie stars John Gallager Jr alongside Goodman and Winstead. The movie was written by Matthew Stuecken and Josh Campbell, and is directed by Dan Trachtenberg.
